It was with great pleasure that on October 19, 2023, we welcomed Mr. Tugdual POIRIER, director of CAP BOURBON, and Mr. Olivier ADER, captain of the longliner Cap Kersaint, to our kite traction demonstrator laboratory, the SeaKite.
The two collaborators from Cap Bourbon, a Reunion Island-based company specializing in toothfish fishing, visited us as part of discussions for a co-development partnership. Cap Bourbon is considering the opportunity to install our #SeaKite system on board their longliner, the Cap Kersaint, based in Reunion and fishing areas offshore of the Kerguelen and Crozet Islands.
Kite traction will prove to be very useful for such vessels that undertake long transits between their home port and fishing grounds. It can help them save a significant amount of fuel and thus avoid costly refueling while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.
Cap Bourbon, committed for many years to responsible and sustainable fishing, is particularly interested in decarbonizing its activities as much as possible.
What pride it is to equip their longliner with our SeaKite system. The sailors of Cap Bourbon are seasoned mariners who work in challenging conditions, with strong winds and seas.
A big thank you to Mr. Tugdual POIRIER and Captain Olivier ADER for their visit to Bassin d’Arcachon. We hope to visit you soon in Reunion.
