SeaKite®: the automated kite traction solution
for large-displacement vessels
Up to 40%* fuel savings
SeaKite® is an automated kite traction solution designed for medium and large professional vessels: cargo ships, cable layers, offshore service vessels, research vessels, naval ships, industrial trawlers and longliners, from 20 to 400 meters in length.
This compact system is installed on the vessel’s deck, in both newbuilds and retrofits, with no impact on operations.

The kite creates its own wind. Unlike a traditional sail, our technology harnesses both true wind and apparent wind: the kite is dynamically piloted by actuators, flying a figure-eight trajectory. It thus generates its own speed and its own wind, which adds to the true wind, increasing lift and therefore the traction transmitted to the vessel.
Suited to every vessel

The search for ever more sustainable fishing also relies on innovation, which is why Cap Bourbon chose to equip one of its vessels with a kite. Everything was planned upfront to adapt this technology to the vessel and its operating conditions. The first trials are conclusive: they already show a speed gain of 1 to 1.5 knots and promise fuel savings of up to 20%.
