LibertyKite®, the traction wing
that adapts to your boat
The LibertyKite® kite wing is the result of more than 10 years of research and development by the team of sailor Yves Parlier. It provides any vessel with:
- Backup propulsion: to harness the power of the wind in the event of damage, engine failure or dismasting.
- Complementary propulsion: to gain autonomy and sail differently.

LibertyKite® technical specifications
Discover the full technical specifications of LibertyKite® for each available size: 10 m², 20 m², 40 m² and 80 m². Whether you are looking for the recommended vessel length, dimensions, materials or traction forces, this data sheet will help you choose the wing that suits your needs and your vessel.
As we are committed to continuously improving our products, the technical specifications may be modified at any time to reflect the latest innovations in our designs.
Possible points of sail
LibertyKite® lets you sail up to 55° from the true wind on vessels with an effective lateral plane (sailboats). For other vessels, the wing can be used from 90° to the true wind.
Depending on the point of sail, the position of the traction points on the deck must be adjusted. The aim is to maintain an axis roughly perpendicular to the apparent wind.

Good to know:
- The points of sail do not take the boat’s leeway into account. Leeway depends on the boat’s lateral plane. A boat without a lateral plane cannot sail upwind unless it is also powered by its engine. LibertyKite® has been optimized for use in 10 to 25 knots of apparent wind.
- To maximize traction efficiency when sailing downwind, favor a broad reach (135 to 165°).
Adjusting the length of both lines together lets you control the elevation and altitude of LibertyKite® to vary the traction force.

Thanks to its hybrid architecture, the LibertyKite® wing combines performance and simplicity. Lightweight and with a high lift coefficient, it delivers strong propulsive force. Its pronounced arch removes the need for a bridle, while its profile and two-point attachment to the deck ensure natural self-stabilization.

integrates on your vessel
Depending on your vessel and your sailing plans, we can carry out an in-depth study to plan the installation of LibertyKite®.
This optional, free study is particularly valued for large kites, LibertyKite® 40 m² and LibertyKite® 80 m², and depends on the specific features of each boat.
This deck study can, among other things, optimize the location of the traction points for the different points of sail, plan any additional deck hardware, and specify optional equipment such as winches.
