Beyond the Sea, a human-sized company based in the Bay of Arcachon, is a start-up created in 2014 by Yves Parlier, a sailor with multiple victories in ocean races.
Today, the company develops and markets kites for the traction of pleasure boats, the LibertyKite®. This kite brings safety to sailors by allowing them to return to port in the event of engine failure or dismasting. In addition, thanks to the fuel savings achieved, it also provides the autonomy required for transoceanic voyages. At the same time, the start-up is developing the SeaKite®, an automatic kite steering system designed to pull larger boats such as pleasure craft, trawlers and merchant navy freighters, which will eventually allow them to make significant fossil fuel savings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions!
Through its program, Beyond the Sea is fundamentally involved in major environmental and societal issues and therefore proposes innovative solutions, at the cutting edge of technology, which are perfectly in line with the “Blue Growth” strategy, which aims at a sustainable development and growth of the maritime sector, in search of environmental preservation.
The Kite Designer will work in close collaboration with the Beyond the Sea Kite Designers and with the technical and operational teams on the different kite models under development. By being able to apply his/her knowledge and experience, he/she will be able to bring his/her support and skills to the development of traction kites. As a true Kite or Paraglider enthusiast and seasoned practitioner, he/she will be able to put his/her scientific mind to good use and integrate his/her knowledge into his/her passion. While being attentive to the state of the art both internally and externally, he/she will have to be able to move from the virtual: an important computer phase, to the concrete; an equally important phase of operational implementation of the models. He/she will have to be able to draw the quintessence of the work of the School of Air and Space, the easy reading of thesis on the resistance of fabrics and flexible structures, the various works carried out by the different universities on kites.
